My ggggrandmother Mary Peebles emigrated from County Tyrone Ireland to Canada in 1834, settling in Wentworth County, Ontario. I don't know if my ggggrandfather John Peebles died in Ireland before they emigrated or en route. Having difficulty locating ship they came on. Have begun looking for John's ancestors in Scotland. From the recurrence of family names, John, James, and George, suspect the line is from Linlithgow, West Lothian but no proof so far

Carolyn Greer Researching the Peebles family in the northern Alabama area. Last official documentation was for George (Henry) Peebles who was the son of John Peebles on the cenus records of Giles County, Tennessee. John Peebles was listed ca 1810 in Virginia. There was also a Jesse Peebles family nearby. My John Peebles was married to Elizabeth Laughlin, they were married in Limestone County, Alabama in 1823. The area they lived in was near Elkton, Tennessee. This was near the Alabama border near Athens.

I have a copy of John Peebles, my father's birth certificate (extract no 079705, dated 6 August 1892) Parish of Kinglassie, Fife, Scotland. He was born at West Firlassie, Kinglassie, Fife, Scotland on 21 July 1892. He migrated to Australia in 1912 on a Cunard boat called the SS Zealandic. His parents are listed as John Peebles (Occupation Ploughman) and Jane Robb Peebles (nee Beaton). They were married at Kingskettle, Fife, Scotland on 21.7.1882. Does your research disclose any details of my grandparents?
